Would I ever have a chance at getting hired??? Don't convictions fall off after so much time anyways? I have no other record ... :)

  1. Depends on your states POST.  (Peace Officers Standards and Training).  Here, where I live in work, you will never become an officer. They just passed a new rule about this.  Convictions here are taken of off your 'driving record' for insurance purposes.  They don't ever come off your permanent record.

  2. Yes, you would still have a chance. It depends on the department that you are trying to get hired with. The best way to find out if your DUI will prohibit you from getting hired with a particular department is to call them and ask. They will find out about it anyway if you apply. Police officer candidates are in demand in many areas. Check out http://www.peaceofficerjobs.com for excellent information about getting a police officer job.
