I love sunbathing and really enjoy having a healthy tan - are there ways to absolutely avoid the dangers of skin cancer?

I want to be a beach comber for a month or two

Thanks in advance

  1. sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen!

There really isn't a safe way to tan, even being in a tanning bed increases your risk of skin cancer.

I bet my answer didn't help at all...lol

  2. It's never really 'safe' to sunbathe; there's always the small risk of skin cancer.

But let's be realistic, as long as you wear a decent sun cream and apply an after sun lotion, you'll be fine! Just don't go mad!

I'm glad you're being sensible about it though, some people are always draped over those stupid sun beds!

    Have fun!

  3. As a cancer survivor, I can tell you their is no absolute way to avoid skin cancer. You are at a higher risk if you have red hair, light skin, and or green eyes. One thing that will help is to use a good sun lotion. It's not all the same. A good sun lotion is one that contains parcol 1789,also called avobenzone.it should be listed as one of the first ingredients. Usually sunscreen that has this will advertise it as anti-aging. I use nuetrogena ultra sheer sunblock. others include...nivea sun, hawaiian tropics,l'oreal ombrette. Just look at its ingredients. My doctor told me,"don't have to live in a bubble, just be smart." I also wear a hat and sometimes uv protective clothing. Its hard to find one that don't make you look like a dork, but their out there. Good Luck on your travels. I am going to Mexico in 4 weeks, but I can recommend a great resort in Punta Cana. It's The Bavaro Princess All-Suits resort. We go there every 2 years.
