ways of applying for a job don't seam to apply to this field of employment, i don't have any bad marks in my work history infact the job i have now tells me all the time how well they like how i get things done,so if any of you understand the oil companys and how people get jobs with them could you give me just a little information, or do any of you work on oil rigs at this time, thanks for your time , have a good day.

  2. A relative got his job because he knew someone on the rig.  He had no experience whatsoever.  Start hanging out at those places.  Maybe you'll get some pointers.  Good luck!

  3. Your best bet is to approach Drilling contractors as opposed to oil companies. Nabors, Global Santa Fe and Transocean are all major offshore drilling contractors and maintain websites where you can get further information and even apply for positions.  Be prepared with an up to date resume and also be ready to undergo a background check and drug test.  Good luck.

  4. My husband works on gas rigs.  The off shore rig pay is about the same as working on land, if that is why you are wanting to do it.  There is a website called http://www.roughneckshack.com I think that can give you some infomation. I know that for land rigs to get a job you have to go 'rig fishing.'  Which is you drive around and find rigs then go up and talk to the tool pusher or the driller, who are the bosses.  If they have an opening you then have to go the company for that rig and put in an application, have a physical, and drug test.  There are some companies that hire from the home office and offer training, but not many.

One company that my husband has worked for is Nabors Drilling they have a website just google their name.
