  1. I know that there is a range near you, with some very interesting people, if you can make their acquaintance.   Nice guys, and very good with a rifle.

Think: Locally produced steel silhouette targets.

  2. Thunder Ranch is one of the worlds most respected facilities.

    Not cheap though.

  3. If you shoot as well as you type...  :-)

There are several marksmanship rifle/handgun schools out there like the Gunsite Academy. Places like this are where you begin.

Not cheap, and I don't know what any age limits are:  the rest is up to you.

  4. theres marksmanship classes probably in almost every state but actual sniping classes that teach you how to stalk and do reconaissance is probably only in the military. US sniper schools have the highest dropout rate than any other training program so i doubt youd be able to make it. you have to be extremely fit and even then you might not be able to make it.

  5. http://www.appleseedinfo.org/index.htm will teach you basic marksmanship and they've got 3 events in Nevada coming up with 1 in Las Vegas.

http://www.frontsight.com/ has precision rifle courses but it'll cost you $2000.

  6. Sniper school are run my the armed forces!  Army and Marine have their own separate schools.  Soldier or Marine make your choice.

Now plenty of places should offer basic marksmanship classes.  You might even look into going to an Appleseed shoot.  You'd need the basics before you can take the next step.

  7. Join the US Marines.

    H

  8. Wait until you join the military.  They will teach you the way they want you to shoot.  You will have no bad habits to break, and they will be happy to mold you into an expert marksman.

  9. I would seriously doubt there is any "walk in" sniper schools anywhere in the US. Its not exactly a good thing to be able to just take a class that will teach you how to be a sniper, (not good for homeland security). And even if there was, I'm pretty sure you would have to be at least 18 to take it. I think the only true sniper schools are in the military, and you will likely have to wait till then to learn to be a sniper.

Not only that, but US Military sniper schools have the highest drop out rates of any job in the military, so getting into one and actually passing is a very difficult task.

  10. My kid brother joined the service in 2002. I was trying to join 10 years ago, but because I'm legally blind in one eye from an accident, I can't get in.

As kids, we both were competitive shooters with 4-H and at the local range's events. We were both pretty good.

My brother's current job is Designated Marksman.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Designated_... In basic training he earned the "Sharpshooter" Badge for rifle. A year later, he re-qualified for the "Expert" Badge, just before deploying in Iraq. After his first tour, he became a DM. He's now a  Staff Sergeant. Getting to this point was no easy task, but he is not a sniper. JROTC certainly could help a military career.

  11. You don't just go to sniper school you have to already be in the military and get recommended to sniper school by scoring an expert in marksmanship with the m16.

  12. Check with your local Fish & Game Dept. They would not offer sniper training but there are plenty of firearms training courses for young people. There is a lot more to being a sniper than you think. You have to be in top physical shape, you need steady nerves and the ability to control everything about your body especially your breathing. Your stealth skills need to be top notch and patients beyond what you are imagining. Are you patient enough to spend 4 hours traveling 100 yards?

You might also check with your local rifle range and see what they have to offer

  13. There are lots of good schools named by others to learn how to shoot. It is a good way to learn fundamentals of marksmanship and how to handle different weapons. However, if you join any branch of the service after that, they don't really care about your previous experiences, and they will make you learn and do it THEIR way. I don't think you will be telling any Sergeant that you learned a different way with success.

  14. There is a LOT more to being a sniper than being able to shoot well.  Most people do not have the range estimation skills required to be a sniper, and that is the no.1 disqualifier in sniper school.  Just ask yourself if you could tell the difference between 500M and 700M.  Also you cannot just sign up for sniper school in either the Army or Marine Corps., you have to be selected, my advice to you would be to enlist in the Army using the Airborne Ranger option, if you can hack that, then you'd probably have a decent chance at getting that B4 designation, good luck.

  15. Do you have JROTC in your high school? Several years in JROTC means straight to PFC (E-3) right out of basic training.

  16. Here ya go...... I think these guys are near Vegas.....
