I want to have a pair of rats as a pet. which s*x is better to put together?

i dont really want to put a male and female together as that makes babie rats.

i just want peoples opinio on which is better

it really depends what you are looking for in a rat.

Male rats~

Male rats are very laid back, and will gladly sit in your lap, they also urinate in some parts of there cage (this might pu u off lol) and they have small fights, to find out who is 'boss' in there '' tenager'' years, but its best to introduce rats at the same time, because if you dont, you are guarenteed a fight.

Female rats~

Are preaty much hyper, they will scuttle around you, and wont sit still for long, but they wont pee in places in there cage, but its best to introduce rats at the same time, because if you dont, you are guarenteed a fight.

2 females.males can be aggressive and sometimes kill eachother.also they have little disgusting balls hanging down.and don't listen to those who say get two.you don't have to.my friend has one and it is happy.also if you get two you have to tame both of them andspend an equal amount of time with them.i am not telling you what to do just reccommending it.

females actually are more aggressive than the males..  it doesn't matter what two you put together as long as they are healthy and you know the breeder or the reputation of the pet store because I got two that were feeder females, one went crazy and ate the other one - I am not kidding she was very aggressive and I am not a clueless pet owner, I have owned rats for years and this is the first time I ever saw anything like it!

people say that male rats stink, but i have 2 and they dont smell one bit. sometimes males will fight if you dont get them from the same litter. my 2 are brothers, but they sometimes scrap with each other, but they dont hurt each other

I have two girlies together and they get on fine, they are sisters from the same litter so i dont know wether that makes a difeerence but they just love each other and i dread to think what will happen when one passes away and one is left alone.

I also have two brothers together and they do have the occasional fight but nothing major just a wrestle and then they are back cuddling up together again.

But i would say either would be fine, girls more so than boys.

I have two males together and they love each other.  They aren't brothers either.  I adopted them from a rescue who put them together by chance and they just bonded.

They are great, and so much fun to play with and watch!

And just to let you know, you can spay/neuter rats- so it is possible to keep a male and female together.

But any type of operation like that can be expensive and risky.
