Prices will vary greatly by area and type of facility; private club, hotel or restaurant.  I would suggest a club like the Elks, Moose or a fire hall, they are usually the cheapest. Typical rental rates, I've paid were under $200 plus a janatorial fee. Use of or access to the bar, additional.  Many also offer a catering service or could recommend one.

I looked at those when planning my wedding, and if you want to have it in some place nice enough for a wedding, it will cost you several thousand dollars.  But if your party isn't that formal the less expensive hotels will probably run a lot cheaper.  But I still think you'll probably pay at least $1000, and a lot of places require you use their in-house catering, so that can raise the price.

What city?  what time of the year?  what day of the week?  what time and for how long? .....how "upscale" do you want it to be? .......a little more information please

That totally depends upon each venue.  Every place has their own rate.  Depending upon how many people you are going to have, catering, time allotment, decorations and staffing.  I would start making phone calls if I were you.  You will see that you probably have an array of prices from $300 - $750.  I would check with your local VFW hall and Kiwanis.  Hope this helps.

Call the hotel where you want to rent.  It depends on the hotel.  For instance, the Four Seasons Hotel ballroom is going to be more expensive than the ballroom at the Quality Inn.  

They usually charge by the person, as meals or food/beverages are provided.  

Prices are usually around $11 a head to the sky is the limit.   Depends on your area, the hotel, and the food served.  :)
