I want to help the planet and environment but I don't know what I can do!?

I recycle all of my paper/cardboard, plastics. What else can I do to help the enviroment/planet

It would be useful if you had realistic goals.  The planet is a giant sphere of rock surrounding an iron core.   It doesn't need any help nor could you affect it one way or the other.  The environment is continuing to improve, and there are still some things we can do to make it cleaner.  Recycling makes sense if it is economical but mostly it is hype.  It is a thing people with political agendas tell you to do so that you can feel you are acomplishing something.  Really, it is mostly a bunch of garbage, pardon the pun.  If you took all the garbage for the united states for one hundred years and stacked it one hundred feet high.  It would make a sqare less than 20 miles on each side, yet you hear from the eviromentalists that we are running out of room for garbage.  Recycle when you can and when it makes sense, but understand that it has very little useful benefit except to make some people feel like they are doing something.  In fact they are doing very little.  That money wasted in recycling some things might be better spent elsewhere.  It is political correctness run amok.  You probably didn't want to hear that.  You wanted something to make you feel good.  Sorry.

Recycling is really good and recycling paper and cardboard save trees.

You can do a lot:

1- Save trees.

2- Use less fossil fuel.

3- Live with sustainable living standards.

4- Pollute less.

5- Recycle what ever possible.

6- Reuse what ever possible.

7- Save energy.

8- Save water.

9- PLANT A TREE EVERY YEAR.

10- Go out with like minded people and teach / guide others.

11- Join som organisation spreading nature education activities and help them.

12- Try to reduce chemical use.

13- Prefer to eat food and vegetables grown organically.

14- Pool your vehicle save fuel.

So these are just  a few things you can do.

Stop breathing. Or actually, to stop global warming, you'de have to cool down the sun, because that's what's most likely causing it. Makes more sense, doesn't it? The sun goes through cycles of hotter and cooler periods, and right now, it's in the middle of a warmer period! Big eye-popper that that's what's making the planet warm, huh? *sarcasm intended*

As a direct answer to your question, yes, it is good to recycle, not overuse electricity, yaddayaddayadda, but still, even if you are the most wasteful person on the planet, you won't have an effect on this extremely stable and adaptable (not fragile) environment.

Start composting.

Use (or start) a community garden.

Plant a native tree.

Volunteer with environmental groups or teach kids about environmentally friendly outdoor recreation try the scouts or   4-H.

Bring you own bags when you grocery shop.

Adopt a section of highway or bike path in your town and keep it free of litter.

Turn off and recycle your computer, TV, video games, iPod and cell phone. Walk more instead of riding in a car.

be extrememly careful with the amount of energy/utilities you use

no more household cleaners......buy human and environment friendly cleaning tools and powders....Borax, baking soda, scrubbing stones

personal care without sulfates!.....better for YOU again and better for mother nature

keep your car maintained

buy organic food and clothing......hemp clothing is the best!.....hemp is naturally organic and grows well without help and makes wonderful clothing

all of this a lifestyle change and takes some work at first
