congrats on your decision....

I like E.D. Hirsch's books (you can do a search for him, he has a website too and an online academy).  I just use his books and make my own curriculum.  His series for K-6 are available at Amazon.com, the library, Barnes and Nobles and half priced books.  They normally sell for $11.95 at Barnes and Nobles, and I have bought for $4.95 at Half priced books, even less online.  

There are also lots of websites for worksheets, and online, interactive math worksheets.  Also, the U.S. Mint has a really good kids website.

You really have so many ways to homeschool.

There are online schools: private/public/charter online schools.

If you don't want to use a school, then don't worry about it.

www.hslda.org will give you the info you need on what you would be required to teach.  Some states require a lot and some very little.  If your state just tells you to do math/science/social studies/english you might want to find a box set of homeschool materials that cover these subjects.

I enrolled my 13 year old this year in themorningstaracademy.org this year.  I had many years of public and 1 year private Montessori and we are so happy now.  This is a teacher lead course.  They have video's and web links to related topics.  We really like it.  We submit work and then they grade it.  That takes the pressure off of me to come up with lessons, materials and grading.  We really like it.
