  1. I would be more than happy to help you. First you should check out the Laws for your state. I have a link on my web site listed below. Second, You should find a local support group in your area. I have a link below for you. When you go to the web page click the group button. Next you will need to contact your local school board and inform them of your desires. They can tell you their requirements for reporting to them about your children. Third you should set up schedule and find the home school materials you need. I have guidelines on my web page for setting up a daily schedule. Also, my e-mail address is there for any further questions you may have.  Do not get discouraged. It will take some adjustments on your part and your children's. Home Schooling is rewarding and will build a stronger relationship between you and your children. Let me know if I can be of further help to you. I have been in the ministry for 24 years helping people (families).

  2. Welcome to the wonderful world of homeschooling ( sometimes hectic, sometimes hair pulling, but always rewarding).

Your first stop is www.hslda.org (Homeschool Legal Defense Assoc.) to check your state laws. They have recently done a  face lift so you might need to click around.

Once you have your state laws, you can go from there. Materials and 'schoolbooks' can come from any number of sources.....the Library, bookstore, thriftstore, online stores ( I like Amazon.com). There are plenty of online sources for things like science, math, flashcards, English, writing and the list goes on. Just let your fingers do the walking in your search engine ( I keep a card file with all the sites and have them listed by subject).

3 Homeschool Magazines to check out are ....Teach, Practical Homeschooling and The Old Schoolhouse. Teach and The Old Schoolhouse have ezines that you can recieve for free and includes much of the same stuff that is in the paper mags ( sometimes more), and Old Schoolhouse ezine has Friday Freebies every week. The mags are available at your local bookstore and Family Christian Store ( Practical and Teach) or you can have them sent to your home.

www.krampf.com is a free science experiment site and www.Familyfun.com offers great stuff for kids to do that are both educational and boredom busters.

Field trips count as a school day ( take pics, have kids write about what they saw or learned). Cooking, shopping, gardening, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Keepers at Home, Sports, they all count as learning ( Keepers is like Girl Scouts but can be done without a group and there is a Boy's version and is more Faith based and less political).

The world is a homeschooler's classroom and all we have to do is stop and listen to it's lessons.

Feel free to contact me at ChildHomeAcademy@aol.com and I'll help where and if I can.

  3. First, you need to make sure you are in compliance with your state's laws:  http://homeschooling.gomilpitas.com/dire...

Next, you want to find some support for your family:http://www.home-school.com/groups/

You will want to figure out your kids' learning styles: http://www.fortnet.org/ParentToParent/PF...

And do some reading on homeschooling (check amazon for a complete list).

You'll want to learn about different methods: http://homeschooling.gomilpitas.com/meth...

But before you do any of that - take a deep breath, hug your kids, and go have a fun day!

    All the best.

  4. Options really depend on where you live. There are free online charter schools, there are some that are private and tuition based and then there is an option of just choosing your own home school curriculum. There are many programs to choose from. K12 is an excellent option. Many online charters offer it for free now dependng on where you live.

Many online charter schools are popping up all over. Many of them are now using k12 products. k12 schoolsare good for many reasons. Each student is given a placement test and then given individualized curriculum based on his or her individual needs. With the help of online charter schools today, homeschooling can be much easier than it used to be. They provide you with everything you need, a computer, a printer, books, supplies, and teachers that you can both email and call for help and assistance. This is free and there are no charges. Online schools are definitely becoming a way of the future for the children in generations to come.

Going to an online school is no different than going to a traditional public school or a private school. They graduate with a real diploma the same as any school. My son graduated from an online charter school and now attends a private university (University Of Dayton) with scholarships. They will also help you with making sure that all state required tests are done yearly and proficiencies are completed for graduation.
