Question:

I want to homeschool online. HELP!?

Well I am going to be a 10th grader soon. I have been to a few different schools in my life. I used to go to a private school, but the tuition was a lot. Now I currently go to a public school and school starts on Sept. 4. I really don't like my school for a few reasons. The teachers barely give you the attention you need, not enough time for work, rude obnoxious students, bullying, and other common things. I would like to focus on my education. I am not that bad of a student. I usually get A's and B's, but last year I slipped and got A's, B's, C's, and D's. I think that homeschooling online could be a good way to get a great education, because my parents won't have but a few hours a day to help me. How can I do homeschooling online for a cheap or free cost? Is this effective? I live in Michigan by the way. Let me know. Thanks.

  1. There are a few different schools on-line that I've tried, but the best so far is Penn Foster. You only have to pay $35 a month and you pretty much teach yourself. It may take a little longer for the material to get to you because of where you live, as it is based in Pennsylvania. You get one subject at a time and after a certain number of quizzes are completed, your next course is shipped out. You can submit your answers through the internet, over the phone, or by snail mail. You have to write some papers that can only be sent in through the mail. There is also a phone number you can call if you need to talk to a teacher.

Second to Penn Foster is Ashworth University. They accept credits from other high schools more easily, and they are also "regionally and nationally accredited by SACS, CITA and DETC". It is harder to get in contact with an actual human being for this program and get listened to which is rather frustrating. You can submit these tests either through the mail or the internet.

I had to do home schooling myself, but for different reasons that only a select few people know. Hope this helps!

  3. Check out K12.com and ConnectionsAcademy.com. They both offer free online virtual public schools if offered in your state. Good luck to you.

  4. k12 is free and you get a free computer for free but you return when do with home schooling

  5. There are several online institutions for homeschooling out there, but it is you who would be able to decide which one is best for you. These institutions are fairly cheap as well and grant accredited degrees so you need not worry about the cost and the legitimacy of your degree. What you can do is browse through a list and reviews of online colleges and universities at http://www.onlineedublog.com/ and then decide which one suits your needs best :)

    hope it helps
