  1. Previous answer was spot on.

If you have to ask those kind of questions you should NEVER try it yourself.

  2. #4 and up - but size is not the only consideration

what type wire or cable ? in conduit ? demand factors ? local codes? damp location? primarily lighting or power?

the panel should be 208/240v single phase ( two hots and a neutral )

  3. I was OK with your question until....how do i hook up the subpanel wires..

Please get someone to come out and look at this for you.

  4. With those kinds of questions I would suggest you call an electrican or at least use a friend that is an electrican to help you.

  5. I agree about using a professional if you are not familiar with what you're doing.  Additionally, if you DIY and cause a fire, etc., your homeowners insurance may not cover the damage.

  6. You can buy a 60A. Sub - Panel at the local

    'Home Despot'

For a 60A. feeder the minimum cable size is #6 AWG. Cu.,

or #4 Al. (If you use Al. , be sure to use the proper lugs

    and anti oxidant compound.)

If you're going 70', expect to load it anywhere near capacity,

and anticipate long branch circuits to high load items,

you might want to go up one size in that cable.
