I'm serious about joining volletball. I know I can hit the ball hard. And i run around the court when we girls do get together and casually play, but nothing hard. THey complain that i hit 2 hard but i can't help it. So i can run and hit but u also need to know how to pass but i don't know if i can. Nobody is interseted in volleyball in my school. But i could learn but i nedd to know:

what are the positions?

what are the basic rules?

Fouls?

Combinations between a setter and an attacker(thats all i no, but not even than all that fully)

Who serves? From where?

What are some exercises for a volleyball player no matter what position they play?

How would you jump high?

I seriously need help, but my parents won't let me go anywhere 4 practice. They don't think i should be doing this. They'd prefer a tradional girl who studys gets good grades(i do that much) and is cooperate and becomes a doctor.

But ever since i was little i've loved sports no matter what kind and i want 2 learn

  1. learning the rules of volleyball is not that hard

    it wont take long either

    you'll learn along the way

but on the other hand learning how to play is different

you kind of need to be a natural at it

    or you really need practice

so i say start right this second and get of asking question

  2. Positions: Well...There isn't really any names for them except the serving spot which is on the right hand side of the court(you are allowed to move to a different spot without crossing the line)

    Basic Rules:

*You cannot hit the ball 2 times in a row

*The ball can only be hit 3 times on one side(The third hit must go over the net)

*You cannot touch or go over the line under the net

*You cannot hold or catch the ball

    Fouls:

*One person hits the ball twice in a row

*The ball was hit 3 times on one side

*Someone has touched or gone over the net

    *illegal hit

Combinations:(4 Fxample; My example people are Lucy, Tracy, & Judy)

Lucy bumps the ball to Tracy; Tracy sets the ball to Judy; Judy bumps/sets/spikes the ball over the net

Tracy sets the ball to Judy;Judy spikes the ball over the net

***There are a lot of combinations; Anything is possible as long as it is not hit more than 3 times;the same person doesn't it 2 times in a row;or an illegal hit***

    Serving:

The person from top right rotating to bottom right.

    Anywhere behind the serving line.

    Exercises: Bumping/Setting back & forth

Practice on a wall on the outside of your house. Bump it to the wall and hit it again when it comes back to you.

    *****Good Luck:D*****

  3. Ok I play for my middle school and here are the answers to your question:

Ok on hitting the ball too hard if you mean bumping it (or some call it passing) the dont swing your arms as much and use your legs for more support. The positions are back row front row ,server (part of back row), and setter. There are also numbered positions but i would need a diagram to show you. The basic rules are when you are serving you cant step over the line or a foot-fault,you can only hit the ball 3 times or it's a dead ball, you cant block a serve. I dont know what u are saying about the setter and the attacker. The person who serves is the person inn back row on the far right hand corner. Some exercises are lunges, chairs, and getting a ball and setting really close on a wall. To jump high i do my approach which u would need to see me do.

About your parents just tell them this is something you really would like to get into and something that you would be dedicated at. And i get good grades and still manage a social life, studies, and staying on my game.

My personal advice. Practice and find someone that has a lot of knowledge in volleyball to almost "tudor" you.

              Hope i help!
