Well recently I found out that I can go into the Air Force after much delay of people telling me I would not be able to. I am happy to say that after removing two tattoos I will be eligible. I have entered a Flight School down the street from my house to get my pilots license and I plan on enlisting into the Air Force and having them pay for my schooling until I receive enough credit to be commissioned.... Is this a good idea? Becuase honestly there is no other way i can go to college because i didnt finish high school and i went through a diploma program and i dont even know my GPA..... I was a great student i just had a child before i could graduate... I plan on one day getting a commission and being a pilot for the Air Force. That is my goal... Do you think im going at it the right way>?????

  1. i am actually in the navy but finishing off some college credits because i did not receive my diploma either. just 15 more credits till i get my associates and i can go in as a E3 to boot camp, I think its a great idea but since you did say you have a kid i would highly suggest you look into reserve there is a 20,000 dollar bonus with the reserves and then you can be at home to be with your kid and not away for a long time and still train to be what you want to be even though there are a limited amount of careers in the reserves I'm sure a Pilot would be easy to accomplish in the reserves. you know you can fly planes in the navy also? not like I'm recruiting you but there are always other options. you should check out army navy marines also and talk to some of the recruiters at your air force recruiting station about it, me I'm just a kinda a newb but just giving you the little details that i know.

  2. Anything we wish to achieve in life is full of complications

If being successful was easy then every one would do it.

I was in the air force  and had a great time filled with many experiences

I did not retire however i still receive full medical benefits for life

Not only will they help in education  there are numerous benefits with the GI bill help with financing a house someday  burial benefits

    benifits to numerous to mention.

I think you are not only making the right choices now i think you are making the correct choices for your family

I don't see or know of any other company or even away for you to reach those goals of yours any faster than the path you have chosen

    I salute you

  3. Get your GED. Then go to community college and build your credits. Then you should be able to go anywhere.

  4. What ever works for you.   I wouldn't count on going from enlisted to commission AND being a pilot.  You may be too old.

revised... they will not even talk to you without a GED.  Get that and IF you score I believe over 60 on the ASVAB you MAY get in.  There are no guarantees

  5. I think it's a great idea if you have no other options for college. Go for it.

  6. I was in the Air Force as enlisted. If you want to be commissioned it will take long hours and a very great deal of concentration and hard work. Concentrate on school. I was in for seven years and knew a lot of enlisted buddies going to school but never saw any of them commissioned. That's not saying it can't be done. Do a lot of research on the requirements on enlisted personnel becoming commissioned first, then after that the pilot position. It will take years maybe decades, but if you are determined you can do it. Good luck and congratulations on your journey. You are definitely headed in the right direction to achieve your goal.

  7. yes thats a good idea have them pay =]

  8. You can't miss.

All you need is to know how to fly.  Being a high school dropout is fine.  They like uneducated officers.
