Well, the thought of joining interests and excites me like nothing else, It has always been at the back of my mind. I have "dabbled" in the military all my, joined for 9 months in the british army as an immature 16 year old and rejoined the British reserves T.A's as a university student/party animal for 1 year. Both times I felt that something was working agaisnt me, at 16 was my age and immaturity and as a 25 year old free student I was distracted by women, clubbing and university to focus on TA life. Now at 36 I feel grounded, I work out every day, I recently stopped working out for 1 month, went back to the gym and ran 1 mile in 6 minutes 40, my point is Im not unfit. Plus my mental state is at its prime, I can handle stress, BS and anything that life has so far thrown at me.

At 36, well i'll be 37 on the 21st should I join the French Foreign Legion? Even the thought of it wants me to catch the next flight, and join.

  1. Your comrades will be the scum of the earth. People who join the FFL are a different breed.

If you want a challenge.... youre going to the right place.... You will be deployed everywehre from Afghanistan to the secret wars currently going on... you never see FFL members in the news... because once you join up... you no longer exist.... hence the reason why murderers go there... they are given a new identity with no questions asked...

If youre smart about it though, you will become a fine killer, expect to be tested though.. Expect to be able to kick the sh*t out of your comrades as they constantly attempt to gain alpha male status over you.

  2. Last I heard joining the french foreign legion would require time travel, weren't they disbanded?

  3. If you've got no obligations then h**l yeah do it.

The only appealing part about it is that until you reach 5 years of service you have to wear your uniform at all times.  Even when you're off duty.

  4. Well your still young enough, and as you say you have the fitness and the mentality, nothing is stopping you from trying.

Give it a shot because you will probably die an old man wondering what life in the legion could have been like, instead you could be telling stories of how you fought of rebels and terrorists in North Africa or even South America.

It's a tough decision but I know that I will definitly give it a shot someday.

    Good Luck
