  1. If you can't get over the fact that you might be sent into combat then you shouldn't join the military at all.

They don't teach you how to shoot and how to kill people with just your bare hands just because its cool you know.

  2. Not trying to be a jerk, but if you are scared of getting killed, find a desk job and relax.  The military is NOT for you.  However, I doubt there are many insurgents on navy ships so I'd have to say that's your best bet if you decide to join.

  3. Are you kidding me? You should not even join at all. No one WANTS to die in Iraq, yet every day people do. Joking around saying you don't want to die so give me an easy way is bs. If you do join just be ready because all the branches are in Iraq and Afghanistan right now. The military works together and everyone is over there. The air force and navy have people on the ground right along with the marines and army, and none of them want to die either, but you know what, they would all die for your way of life.

  4. Your gonna die anyway lol

  5. If you are afraid of being killed by some towel-head in Iraq, then forget the military. You never where and when you'll get fired at.

  6. Just cuz you join the military doesn't mean your going to die.

  7. You can still join the military, but never, ever see gunfire....

you can be a hacker for the military

    chef...

    doctor...

there are TONS of professions in the military.

Call a recruiter, or check their websites.

  8. With all due respect..our troops join knowing that they may die for their country and they still are willing to go! NOBODY wants to go to war and die, but they risk their lives so that we can enjoy our freedom. I highly suggest that you do not join the military.

  9. All branches of the military are working their butts off in Iraq and Afghanistan!  And that means that good men and women are being injured and killed!  I am glad to hear that you want to join your countries military and contribute, but realize every job you do has the potential for a mishap.  Does not matter if you are a pencil pusher or infantry man, if you wear the uniform you have to be prepared for anything. You could be on a ship and have a fire break out, ie the USS George Washington or attacked by some terrorist while your having breakfast USS Cole.

    AM2(AW) Grant

  10. First and foremost there is no safe place anywhere in the military. If you are not absolutely willing to make that sacrifice then I strongly recommend that you choose a different profession. The risk of being killed by an insurgent exists 24/7 365. I'm a cook and I'm there right now. There is no job in the military that doesn't go over there.

    SPC US Army

  11. Sorry to say,  but you sound a bit like a coward.  I think joining the US Public Health Service, which is a uniformed service,  would be best for you as you would never be deployed.   You would get to serve in nice safe Public Health Service and Indian Health Service hospitals in the USA.

  12. Marines don't fear death. That should answer your question as to which branch you should choose.

  13. Air force would be the best choice.

  14. Join the Navy and be a Personnel Serviceman or a Yeoman. Easy desk jobs and you won't be in the line of fire, uh ever! It's perfectly normal to not want to die. Just remember that ships can be attacked as well. Military is military, we all face risks. Marines are the best and the toughest, don't join unless you're willing to put your neck on the line for the Corps and your country.

  15. coast gaurd buddy.  you might die but it wont be in iraq

  16. The Marines are the toughest branch of the military, at least physically. Depending on your job, they can all be about equal but the Navy is much more dependent on "critical thinking." If you don't want to patrol streets or be on the ground, the Marine Corps is absolutely not for you. If you join the Navy, there is certainly a possibility that you may be put on the ground overseas, but you may also be on a ship or at a dry base.

If you want to fight, you join the Marines or the Army. If you want a much safer less physical job, go with the Navy or Air Force.

From what you are saying, I'd say the Marines are not for you. They live to fight. You will always have a weapon handy, and will be trained, first and foremost, to kill.

  17. Honestly with what you are requesting Air Force would be the way to go.  People hardly ever get killed over there in the AF.  Im not sure if you have your heart set on the navy or marines though, but if you dont I would definately go Air Force.

  18. If you aren't prepared to be deployed please don't join any branch of the armed services. I don't want people like you possibly watching out for my boyfriend or any other troop.

  19. First off there isn't a large possibility of you dieing and if everyone was worried about dieing for there country then we would have no country, I'm going into the air force after high school, I am afraid of death but I love my country and the freedoms we have and even right now at 16 I would drop dead typing this sentence if that meant that others could stay safe and free.

I do not support the war in Iraq because it is an unconstitutional war, but if my life where to replace someone else's life someone with a family who loves them I'd do it. Thats why if I die in Iraq in 2 or 3 years it would be better me a person who has a evil family who doesn't care about them then to have another man with a wife and children to go.

So if you don't want to die to protect your liberties and the liberties of the ones you love don't join the arm forces.

  20. Salvation Army

You can assist people and make a difference and still be proud.

"I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God." (Title 10, US Code; Act of 5 May 1960 replacing the wording first adopted in 1789, with amendment effective 5 October 1962).

All services take this oath and if you cant except this then please dont join.
