I want to join the peace corp but don;t want to go overseas what do I do?

Is there any other organization like it in the United States?

Check out AmeriCorps, Teach for America or City Year. I did AmeriCorps, but in comparison with Peace Corps I think you get more support with Peace Corps. In AmeriCorps you have to have the financial resources to get by for a year, the only help you get are some food stamps and health insurance (and pretty shoddy at that, if you have a preexisting condition). In Peace Corps they really make sure you have a roof over your head and a bed to rest it on.

AmeriCorps is very similar, but has service based in the U.S.  Many of their work programs feature small stipends, and there are tuition benefits similar to the Peace Corps.

(Some AmeriCorps projects also offer part-time opportunities, and some AmeriCorps members serve more than one term of service.)

There are many organizations like it in the US. One, which is church related, is YWAM - Youth With A Mission - and they do great work.
