I want to kill a jar-full or fruitflies but WITH WHAT!?

I'd prefer like, an miniature explosion to immolate them all, but I could also go for filling the jar up with an extremely toxic liquid.

Anything to teach these fruit flies a lesson. hit me.

What grudge do you have against them?? I seek revenge on them for infesting my pet with maggots, which ate her flesh.

I'd also say freeze them, that sounds quite cool.

is the best just dab a bit onto some cotton wool and put it in the jar, it may take a few minutes but it will preserve tham

Just like people fruit flies don't learn lessons they die from.  But if you just leave the lid on the jar they will suffocate.
