  1. I think you mean WHY people don't know anything about criminal issues.

The reason is no one pays any attention to the world around them anymore, and the end result is a growing ignorance and apathy on a whole host of issues.

More and more people are getting their news from Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert than are watching the regular news.  This says a great deal about the state of our society when people are so distrusting of the media they will take heir news with deliberate exaggeration and comical fallacy rather than the kind hidden in the "real "news" media.

  2. YA

  3. Hi Collins S...

If you mean "why", then my opinion is this...

It just isn't in vogue to know anything about things like this anymore. It's not the politically correct thing to talk about .

For example, it is very big to be knowledgable about climate change / global warming issues. ( I am NOT being defamitory about these issues...) Also, I think people are now more and more concerned about their own immediate issues, rather than placing as much thought on their community at large. A very sad enditement on us really...

It's not to say that some people aren't interested, I don't have a huge knowledge of criminal issues per say, but I do have an interest in our legal system here in Australia. Call me a nerd, but I am interested!

Like someone else has said, there are more and more actors/commedians (?) making a joke out of serious issues, so maybe the message just isn't getting across as much. In this day and age, nothing is sacred when someone can make money out of it.

    Anyway, interesting question. Thank you.
