For what country?  If you are thinking of the US, forget it.  There is no employment visa category for such an occupation.  Other than agricultural labor, which is for a maximum of 6 months, any other employment visa is limited to occupations which require a minimum of a university degree.  Metal machinist does not require a minimum of a university degree.
