better at chess. Please let me know. I now have a rating of 1568, which means I am A class "c" player still. Please let me know your rating if any, and the years experience you have at this point. If one is able to find a website on this subject that too would be great. Thanks!!

  1. actually, I'm not a great expert in chess, i just like playing it and having fun in such a way.

that's why I'm not much aware about the books, but I liked this one The Chess Greats of the World, Bobby Fischer

As to chess sites, I am more informed in this area. Have a look at www.chessok.com

There are many interesting things - from playing zone and solving chess tasks to interesting articles and on-line chess store

I find it very useful and entertaining. hope you'll find it fascinating also.

  2. The two chess books I learned the most from are Bobby Fischer teaches Chess, and Play the French by Watson.

  3. Laskers Manual and Siegbert Tarrach's the Game of Chess.

  4. Your rating is 1568, but on what scale? Is that on Yahoo games, in real tournaments, on another web site, or what? If it's US Chess Federation, then that's pretty good. If that's on Yahoo games, then you're still pretty much a beginner. Internet ratings tend to be highly inflated. For instance, my USCF rating is 1468, but I'm rated in the 1700's on most internet sites.

As for what books will help the most, that depends on what your specific strengths and weaknesses are as a player. Doing lots of tactical puzzles is always a good idea, though.

My recommendation is to follow the advice of Dan Heisman at chesscafe.com's Novice Nook column. He's got a whole improvement plan for players of all levels, up to around expert. Just head to that site, click "archives" and look through his past columns, starting with the one with a title of "A Generic Improvement Plan" or something like that.

  5. Hello,

You may like to visit my webpage: http://www.chesmayne.info

...and try looking at 'Books' under the letter 'B' in the lexicon.  You may also PRINT out any orthodox chess set & board in the world - free!  I hope this will be helpful for you.

    Yours,

    Chesmayne.

  6. I play chess, Not on your level, But just for the like of the game. Not rated or anything. I would tend to think that either Robert "Bobby" Fischer, Or Garry Kasparov, 2 of the best ever to play the game would have something published in that field? Maybe try looking under those names for chess-related-books. That's about all I can think of at the time? hope it helps you anyways.  Take care, and God-Bless to You and Yours. 1st Sgt., 7th Special Forces, (Ret.) Vietnam 67-70

  7. My System by Aron Nimzowitsch.

It is by far the best chess book on the market.
