Parts of a Gas Turbine.

1..Starter ...Expander turbine or Electric motor.

2...Air compressor...Generally Axial flow type.

3...Compressor (High Pressure) Turbine...Drives the air compressor by direct shaft linkage.

4...Combustion Chamber(s)...Mix the primary air from the compressor with fuel (may be natural gas or vaporised diesel fuel).

5...Transition piece mixes secondary air with the hot combustion gases.

6...HP Turbine Inlet Nozzles...Direct the hot gases onto the turbine blades.

7...Variable Angle Nozzles...Direct the hot exhaust gases from the HP turbine to the LP (Load) turbine.

8...Load turbine connector shaft to Gear train and on to the Load (the driven machine)..Compressor, Generator...etc.

9...Final exhaust system..May be utilised as heat to an 'Economiser' or direct to atmosphere.

10..Ancillary equipment...Lube, Seal and Control oil systems; Cooling water and cooling water cooling systems.

11..HP and LP Turbine speed control systems.

12..Turbine Overspeed Protection and shut-down system.

13..Shaft vibration alarm and trip, and other safety alarm and trip systems.
