Try Princeton Review books. They are really good! They improved my scores in SAT I and SAT IIs.

Its really nice that you have opted to study for yourself, because the coaching classes do very little in regards with GRE prep. Begin your preparation with the Barrons book and once you are comfortable with that try doing the Big Book for GRE..and in the free time try listening to the audio word lists that you can find in www.esnips.com

Do take lot of practice tests before appearing for a test..my sincere advise is to book the GRE test well in advance and try preparing for that.dont postpone your exams at any cost..it's of no use.
