which RPO (Regional Passport Office) you have submitted your application?.

Now you can check on the status of your application using your file no. on the Link Status Page (from the drop down menu choose the RPO). on the web site http://passport.nic.in.  



In case of undue delay (more than 1-2 months) . you can call to the PRO of the concerned Passport office. For getting the contact no. you  go to the HOME PAGE link on the same web site by selecting the desired RPO from drop down menu.

I agree with Sanjeev.  You should try calling the passport office and ask them.  If you can't call them perhaps there is some other way of contacting them.
