  1. Tourist visas would be the easiest to get.  No work authorization, finite period of stay, etc etc ...

Contact the nearest US Consulate or embassy (New Delhi, Mumbai, and Calcutta, if I remember correctly.  There's probably more)

  2. All applicants for Nonimmigrant (NIV) visas from South India may call 044-4231-6767 for inquiries.

The B-2 visa is for foreign nationals seeking to enter the U.S. for a short time for the purposes of tourism, social visits, or other recreational activities.

Most business visitors are usually given B1/B2 visas, allowing them to enter the U.S. for either business or recreational purposes. B1/B2 visas may be issued with a validity of any length of time up to ten years. This means that someone who has a B1/B2 visa with a ten year validity may appear at a port of entry and seek admission to the U.S. at any time for the next ten years. It does NOT mean that the traveler will be allowed to remain in the U.S. for 10 years. Typically, travelers entering on B1/B2 visas are permitted to remain in the U.S. for between three and six months. This decision is made by immigration inspectors at the port of entry.

  3. They would need to go to the Embassy where they have citizenship (India in this case) and apply for a visa.

But, it would be best to ask this question from an official source, such as an embassy - not Yahoo answers if you are serious about them trying to obtain a visa.

    Good luck!

  4. Tell them to apply for a tourist B2 visa NOW. Usually the validity of the visa is 10 years so they can come and be by your side at any time.

Tourists are supposed to prove that they will return to the country of origin after a brief stay in the US. That means that they will show sufficient family and community ties such as a job that they had for a long time, a house in their name, minor children who will not accompany them, and the like. Sufficient funds to pay for the trip and the stay in the US. Usually bank statements for the last 6 months are required.**

  5. They probably want to apply for a temporary visa then. You might be able to download the form from the Immigrations services website.
