  1. The best poem ever written (to me, anyway) is "Howl" by Allen Ginsberg. The first line will always apply to my life, and probably to just about anyone's.

"I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness."

There has never been and will never be a better opening line.

  2. One of my most favorite poems is They Did Not Build Wings for Them by Irena Klepfisz.

    I love the Canterbury Tales.

I love all of Emily Dickinson's poems.

  3. Robert Frost-*The Road Not Taken,*Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening,Birches,Out-out,Mending Wall

Robbert Herrick-*To the Virgin's to Make Much of Time

    Edgar Allen Poe-Raven

Dylan Thomas-*Do Not go Gentle into that Good Night

Walt Whitman- Oh Captain, My Captain

Elizabeth Browning-How Do I Love Thee? Let Me Count the Ways

    Lewis Carroll-Jabberwocky

    Russian poets-Pushkin, Blok, Akhmatova, Pasternak

    * poems are my absolute favorites.

Poetry is always best in it's native language, otherwise much of the meaning is lost.

  4. Beans Beans There Good for you heart
