My friend has some pics that are B&W and then the center or certain parts of the pix has color in it. Can you please tell me how to do this, or do you have to have a camera that will do this?

  1. This would be easy to do with a scanned and digitized color image made from either color slide, color print (negative) film, or printed color images. It would be almost trivial to do this with a color digital camera. Just import the image into Adobe Photoshop and go at it.

  2. It's called "Color Accent" or "Selective Coloring." The Canon Powershots have the color accent feature that allows you to automatically do it in the camera. If you do not have this feature in your camera, you can do it in Photoshop. The easiest way is to start with a color image, make a duplicate layer, convert to black and white, then use the eraser to reveal the color beneath. Good luck!
