  1. Check out the fishes from Zippi.  He makes excellent fishes, they are well priced, he's a cool guy, and you're supporting your local shaper.  He stands behind his boards too which is cool.  If you buy your board off the rack and don't like it, tough luck.  Not with Zippi.  All his shapes are all pretty much twinnies.  I've surfed mine in 1ft slop up to OH+.  You are light so you can afford to go smaller.  Talk to Zippi, he'll fit you with something that works for you.  Don't listen to the hype, shorter doesn't always mean better with fishes.  I'm 5'7" 170lbs and ride a 5'9" and absolutely love it.  I also own a 5'10" which I take out when it's REALLY small and I still feel like surfing.

I'm not affiliated with Zippi in any way shape or form.  Just a stoked owner of 2 of his boards (2 of my friends also bought one after trying mine out).  Ask around.

Btw, don't get caught up in the 'traditional' or 'new school but not really a fish' fish debate.  If your reasons for getting a fish are like mine, you'll be stoked.  I wanted a board that floats really well, that catches waves really well, and that's fast.  That's a fish.  It's definitely skatey and takes a few sessions to dial in but it's fun.  It's not a thruster so tight carving cutbacks and going vertical are not easy on a fish but they can be done.  It's also cool being able to hang out near the old guys on their tankers and still catch waves and ride a 'shortboard'.  Oh yeah, I longboard too but just not that often :)
