  1. if it is a high quality rca cord then yes just make sure you match the right colors to colors.  the only reason they are colored is so you put the right input to the right output.

  2. The correct 75 ohm video cable will work but the audio will leave something to be desired. It will work but you will be counteracting the reason for separate video cables in the first place, interference.

  3. Yes it will work, but you won't get as good of a picture.  Why not buy a component cable?  You can get them for about $5 on Ebay.

  4. component is just the picture, the same as the yellow cord on the rca jacks. with component you would need a righ and left (red and white) cord from the audio out to the source. you can however hook up the rca jacks to the back of your dvd player to the back of an input on the lcd tv if your dvd player has the jacks. otherwise i would suggest buying the component cords and wiring that to the component input of your tv.

  5. Regular coaxial cable with RCA connectors will work (the devices don't know what color the plugs are).  But you must be careful to keep the source and destinations consistent - i.e., green component output on DVD goes to green component input on TV.

Be aware that cables made for component signals are a little thicker to reduce the capacitance losses of the cable because they carry very high bandwidth compared to audio.  Another way of reducing losses is to keep the cables as short as possible.
