There is no correct answer to your question. One cannot rank a scientist as better than others. I mean, how would you adjudge the greatness of one scientist ? Who is greater Newton or Einstein ? Rutherford or Feinmann ? They are all great and we respect them for their contributions that changed our lives. I suggest, you select any of the famous names posted by others - it serve your purpose.

i only know Albert Einstein is the greatest scientist, but he isn't living.

In this case "best" is highly subjective.

For your project a good candidate would be Stephen Hawking.  He has overcome some serious handicaps (ALS) to make some of this century's most impressive advances in astronomy and physics.
