I am a Cherokee Indian, I have not seen a Cherokee who looks Asian, and as far as I know, we don't speak a Sino-Tibetan language. People say we have Asian ancestry, then why don't we have any similarities? It is kind of frustrating hearing these remarks. If you have proof we are Asian, then please show me. I see no credible evidence to this.

  1. I think this came from the theory that Indians traveled from Asia/Europe to America on foot, when there weren't vast oceans.

I'm Asian and personally I don't think Indians look like Asians. I love Indian hair! So pretty. They usually have  the purest black hair.

  2. I googled "cherokee" to see if you looked Asian, and the first page was all p**n.

  3. kind of like when people say that native americans are indians.

  4. You're no more Asian than I am German, and my family came to this continent much more recently than yours probably did.

You do, however, have distant Asian ancestors, much like I have  somewhat less distant European ancestors. This relationship is apparent in some ways, but it doesn't make you Asian.

  5. My opinion is that the "Mongolian" race was slightly different than other surrounding races of the time and this may have been reason enough (racial discrimination!) for them to have sought other lands to occupy and live on.

I believe this also could be the reason that the first human migrations (from Africa?) occurred spreading the human species to Asia(they do look different today than any current African peoples).

So if one is to think that we will one day "assimilate", mongrelize, or otherwise come to blend our various human races into a unified peaceful racial profile think again----the very reason we have so many is that people will discriminate against those whose heritage and genotype differ from their own !!!!!!!!

Had this not been so one could imagine the entire human species crowded together in the western side of the African Continent !....Just imagine with the wars currently in vogue there now how violent it would be had all the others stayed put instead of migrating !!!!!!!!!!!

  6. They do not say we are asians. We are of Mongolian lineage.

  7. i don't like to tell anyone who or what they are......but since you asked.....

i think that people make the connection cuz Asians walked from Asia to Alaska across the Bering strait.

to me Asians and native Americans do have some similarities. high cheek bones, tight eyes, straight hair, but of course there are differences physically and culturally.

we are all from Africa anyway.

  8. The theory is based on dispersion patterns of the first americans and the exposures of land bridges, and DNA patterns.

some "asian" nationalities don't look much like each other either.  there are a few other minor theories but this is the leading one.

  9. Cherokee & Iroquoi have a lot of haplogroup X (a Western European DNA) that somehow appeared on the East Coast about 20,000 yrs ago.  Add this to the fact that they began to marry Europeans in the 1600s & anyone that was 1/4 Cherokee, or married to someone 1/4 Cherokee was considered "indian" in 1832 when their land & rights were stripped from them, and one finds a lot of recently introduced European DNA among Cherokee, Choctaw & Creek.

  10. There is evidence that people from Asia inhabited the Americas, maybe longer that 15,000 years ago.  In that length of time, people change....a lot.

The prevailing theories are that humans first appeared in Africa, then eventually colonized the rest of the world.  Black Africans have distinctive facial features that do not appear in other races.
