Kind of defeats the purpose of saving money doesn't it? If you do this explain your logic. The farther you go to get it, the more gas you use to get there. So your savings are trumped by the gas you use to get to the cheaper place.

  1. Poor math skills could be at the bottom of this mystery.

  2. thats a good question because if u drive all the way around town to buy gas then their wasting gas to drive around town

  3. honestly i think people just don't use their common sense. my husband use to drive from one side of town to the other to save 5cents on gas. i would ask myself every time why in the world would he do that.

people see a few cents off and just don't use their common sense. if anyone says different they are full of it.

  4. thats about stupid isn't it??  you know what i don't get.... when gas goes up everywhere, but there are a couple of stations where the gas is lower, people will wait in a line for 30 minutes or more to get cheaper gas.... don't they realize they are burning more gas idling than they would driving... and they just lost money by waiting??

  5. Totally agree....I just had this discussion with a group of my friends the other day...of course non of them disagreed, we mostly laughed at the morons who think they're being clever

  6. because you do really save more if you find a station that sells cheap gas

  7. I always laugh at people who are so silly as to drive even a few miles out of there way to save 3 cents per gallon.

If you put 20 gallons in your vehicle, you've saved $1 folks. You spent more than $1 just driving that extra 5-10 miles to "save" those pennies.

  8. yes and no,...it does send a message to the stations who charge more....if everyone boycotted a station because of its high prices, they would lower them...they have bills to pay too.....Do you honestly think if we all bought our gas at the most expensive station that they would or will lower the price???? NO,.. they will take the profits and charge you more when they see fit...murphys law..it's immoral to allow a sucker to keep his money......check gasbuddy.com and find the cheapest station before you leave home....it's because your willing to pay the price that the oil companies have raised it so much...

  9. My grand parents do this to death. They drive and burn 1/3 of the entire gas to get to the indian reservation where gas is like $2.20 or so. Its kinda worth it, but then on your way back you burn 1/3 of your gas again!!!!

  10. Americans are obsessed with their cars.  A lot of folks are completely irrational when it comes to their most prized possession.  This irrationality and vehement stubborness about just about everything related to the automobile including gas prices, gas mileage, size, driving habits, pollution, etc. is indicative of this obsession.

It's rather sad.  Shouldn't there be more important things in life than spending half of it in traffic?

  11. people dont realize that driving around looking for cheap gas defeats the purpose.

  12. I don't.  All five gas stations in this town are all the same price.

  13. Because you are not using a WHOLE gallon of gas to get to the next one. And you would be passing it anyway!

  14. One oenny doubled and added over 30 days is over 3 million dollars. A little bit goes a long way.

  15. idk....... i think it is pointless and g*y....

  16. I don't buy the cheapest gas to save money. It's the principle of it. Also, I know where the best price is in advance by checking my favorite web site:http://www.orangecountygasprices.com/

THEN, I go there on my way to some OTHER place.

If ONE guy can sell it for say, 3.59, why do the rest sell the same gas for 3.89 or 3.99

  17. Because they are STUPID.

Yes it does. The 2 cents a gallon savings you 'get' is basically eaten up by the gas spent driving all over looking for it.

But for some reason, that 'hunter-gatherer' mentality still rules our actions. So a person may spend $1 in burning gasoline to get to that station, bu by golly, they sure will feel TRIUMPHANT and good when they buy it . And dont't forget the trip back as well.....

  18. because stupid is, as stupid does.

That's what my momma use to always say........

my pet peeve is people with like 30 items in the 10 item or less lane.

I just want to walk up and SMACK  those people.

It's called ten items or less for a REASON.

Guess they have trouble counting to 10 or something.....

    Yup...........stupid is, as stupid does................

    Sho'nuff!

  19. Who's to say why people drive to save a few pennies! I agree with you, in the long run, it does defeat the purpose. Crazy isn't it?
