  1. The selectors pick the team as who played well in their positions for their club, but you may know that. The players such as you mentioned may be injured, or may have  scheduled operations coming up. Some players are not interested in going to Ireland.

So yes it does seem that the selectors pick the worse teams.

  2. the selectors are a bunch of has beens this is the same in all sports though

  3. injuries are a major factor judd's shoulder goodes has battled injuries for years (amazing he can play so well he demands respect) johnson has surgery and kerr has battled a foot injury for the better half of the season name you missed simon goodwin although hall and selwood deserved to be there

  4. The all australian squad is who has best performed over 22 rounds of afl, Who goes to ireland is a different matter injuries, other commitments or whether they just want some time off away from sport are some of the reasons why players may not take their side in the first 22, however these spots still need to be filled and kevin sheedy has said that the best afl players are not always suited to the hybrid game, Aaron sandilands and dean cox are perfect examples chosen in the all australian catigories but where in the international rules do you need a ruckman? small fast midfielders make up the core of the group with a few taller key position players rounding out the squad. The precision passing in afl is just not applicable in international rules meaning the ball is chipped and run up the ground the majority of the time rather than having long balls put in the square, hence players suited to this rather than the top performing afl guys.

  5. Brad Johnson is having shoulder surgery, Judd hurt his shoulder in the grand final but doesn't need surgery, could still use the time off though. Kerr could probably play, and probably missed out because they wanted to give Michael Voss a send off game for Australia, and as for Goodes...well I don't know who let him out of the baboon enclosure but the sooner he's caught and put back in there the better
