I want to learn archery. How do I know which type/size of bow I should get?

I'm looking for a chart or table based on height/weight that can tell me the size I should get. Thanks.

First of all are you hunting or target shooting?Next would be how much $ are you willing to spend.Once you have answered those then I would suggest you visit a reputable pro shop.They will measure your draw length and set your bow up for you.I would also suggest that you buy the best equipment that you can afford,you may be able to pick up a  quality used bow for a reasonable price.Archery is a personal sport so what your buddy likes and uses may not be the same for you so do some research.Good luck and have some fun!!

If you're in the US, the first step to take is to go to a  range.  Go to www.usarchery.org and search for a range/club near you.  Most of them will have equipment for you to try on, some will let you try them on forever for free.  At our range, we have people who've been shooting our equipment for 5 years, all free of charge.  

As for a first bow, you need to first know what you like and what you'd like to do with the bow.  The second one is easier, do you want to hunt or do you want to compete?  The first one is a bit harder, do you like it simple or do you like playing with cool gadgets?  You usually can't really make that call until you've tried them out.  Some people have problems shooting with sights, some have problems shooting without it, some are ok with both.

As for a chart, there really is none, because everyone is built different, I'm 5'9" for example but I have the draw length of someone who is 6'4", what can I say I'm just built like a monkey.  So like the other user said above, you need to get your draw measured, everything else depends on that measurement.

Well It's gonna depend on how much money you want to spend, how strong you are, and how long your arms are. And maybe height im not for sure.
