  1. In the US we have community colleges which help people with learning basics (math, reading, writing) as well as vocational certificates and associate degrees.

Is there something like that in the UK?

  2. Please ignore Sophie K - that really should have been "how could you have written the letter" not "wrote". Get a tutor - the fact that you have started your own business and it's becoming successful is great. It shows that you're intelligent - and I'm assuming that you may speak more than one language and that takes brains too. SO learning the basics with regard to English writing and math should be no problem for you.

  3. Your best bet is to hire a private tutor who can design the work for you in the best way possible to fit your learning needs so that you can learn where or however it is best for you. As far as language and math are concerned, try to find a tutor who won't rip you off and college courses you should wait for until you have the skills to go through all the way. good luck :)

  4. I 'm sure there  are lots of teachers out there who could do with the extra cash, and would come to your home and give you one to one tuition, but would concentrate on your weakness's,something you might not get at college, look in the local newspapers ads, failing this, look at other course's in the college

  5. Try an adult Learing Center in your area

  6. how could you have wrote the question?

  7. Most areas have adult learning facilities. Often one to one is provided.

I trained and taught in just such an organisation for several years in the local town. It was most fulfilling and rewarding.

Suggest you speak to your local library and/or local authority.

Incidentally at the time that I was teaching these basic literate and numeracy courses were free.

A major advantage of such courses was the fact that no one would take the mickey at any stage.

  8. Good for you!  I think you are very brave to admit to having these difficulties and I admire you for wanting to do something about it.

    Try this.
