I want to learn how to play drums

Question

Basically, I brought a drum kit in like january or something like that, I learnt a few things like a basic 4/4 beat and metallicas for whom the bell tolls but it never really went further than that. I cant afford professional lessons, is there anywhere I can learn online?

Any kind of information, videos and w/e would be greatly appreciated.

I play guitar and bass and itd be great to add my own beats to my songs.

i play drums 2 and i had like 3 lessons thats all u really nedd. Drums are mostly a self taught art..

Yeah, man. Just try to learn songs that you like. It's really not something you need lessons for.

I also hear that buying Rock Band is a really good tool to help you learn.

you can search youtube videos. there are many. you can also use search engines like Yahoo. The best is to learn from YAMAHA music school!

The first step is to learn how to read music. Try this:

The second step is to develop technique. Everyone has their own technique but formal technique training is best so you don't hurt yourself or abuse your instrument. You can find plenty of videos on youtube, but remember, if it hurts, then you are probably doing something wrong.

The two best books you could ever buy (the greats study out of these books, such as Danny Carey) are: Stick Control by George Stone and 4 way coordination by Marvin Dahlgren and Elliot Fine.
