I want to learn how to play guitar...but do i NEED an amplifier? I'm getting an acoustic guitar?

  1. no you dont need one. not now anyway. once you start getting good at the guitar buy a cheap starter electric guitar WITH an amp. then after a while with that, get a really good guitar meaning a gibson or a fender.


  2. Acoustic guitars don't require amplifiers.  That's the great thing about them (aside from the beautiful sound they make) -- you don't have to plug them into anything so you can take them anywhere -- out on your front porch, to the beach, on a camping trip -- wherever you want.  :-)  

  3. Get Slinky strings. Reg are too stiff, and Super Slinky is too much of a good thing. An acoustic mic pickup works fine, (don't use the magnetic one), if you want to record or perform to large groups or in noisy places. Rock on! Regards, Larry.
