I live WAY up in the mountains in the middle of nowhere!! It takes a half-hour to get to anysort of store (12 miles) So i can't do lessons, plus I can't afford lessons!! But i still want to learn how to do it!! I want to learn how to box preferably... but i would do the others if they are easier to learn at home!! But i dont know how to learn by myself without help or anything!! I could get a dvd or something to help me!

My brothers did Tae Kwon Do and loved it, but i was too little!! And now i wish i had done it, but i would rather learn how to box!! If there is a DVD that you would recomend to me, that isn't over $50+ bucks and that doesnt need me to get anything for it that would be helpful!!

I already have a pair of 3 pound weights so if i need that i already have it!!

Thank you for all your help!!!

  1. there's not much u could do without the help of an insctructor, but the 3 pound weights could help strengthen ur arms, with the weights in ur hands u could do at least fifty punches a day over and over, u could hold ur arms straight out with the weights in ur hand and hold them there, u will notice over time u can hold it longer and longer. hoped that helped

  2. check at your nearby library they very possibly have a book on the fighting syle you may be interested in learning.

  3. learning a martial art on your own is very difficult. but what helped me was looking on online sites that showed the techniques. youtube may be a good place to start.

    good luck!

here are some sites that may help:

  4. If you're out in the middle of no where, and unable to learn from a master, DVDs will still not help you. It's good your primarily are interested in boxing as it is the "simplest" of the styles to learn. You will want to invest into a punching bag of sorts and proper bag gloves.

6 days a week, run, do jumping jacks, push ups, sit ups, shadow box, and beat on the bag. All of this should be done in no less than an hour fifteen minutes. Any less and you're not getting a work out.

When ever you punch (on the bag or not) watch for proper arm alignment (don't hyper-extend your elbow, keep elbows in, keep shoulder, wrist and striking knuckles in line). ALWAYS WORK SLOW and then build it up.

Let it be known, you will hurt your self, so be prepared, and careful.
