  1. balance is key.  I ski, not snowboard...but i am friends with lots of snowboarders.  If you fall get back up...and make the fall look good

  2. It is great that you will be taking lessons: that is the first key.  To improve quickly practice all the skills that you are shown in the lessons.  Sideslipping is a very important thing to practice even after you learn how to turn.  You will find out how to sideslip in your first lesson- that is the first thing you do once you are up the hill.

It is a hard thing for some people to learn.  It depends on your fitness and flexibility and balance.  Hang in there!  Just about anyone of reasonable fitness can learn how to snowboard.  The biggest help is to have lots of enthusiasm and it sounds like you have that!

  3. Take three half day lessons.  Use the other half of the three days to practice what you have been taught.  After 5 days total, you will be making s turns, and easily riding blues.  Yes it is hard.    Snowboarding is harder to learn than skiing, but much easier to master.  If possible, pick up some Burton impact gloves.  You will be falling a lot, and these will prevent you from breaking your wrists.  Just remember, it's not how many times you fall, but how many times you get up!

    Good luck
