  1. I assume that you live in the USA -- if you live in India, I can not help you.

    Why not start with:

    The U.S. Fencing Association

    http://www.usfencing.org/usfa/

Take a look at the "Find A Club" option for local schools.

BTW: You might also be interested in "Stick Fighting."

I practice several different walking stick techniques myself.

(You can carry a walking stick on the street -- you can't carry a foil.)

  2. I have no idea where you can find a teacher, but you need to decide whether you are learning to learn the sport form or the historically accurate martial arts form.

the sportative form has more applications, but the martial arts form well is more effective but the odds of you walking the streets with a sword are between slim and none.

so ask yourself WHY you want to learn an obsolete art.

I'm not saying you shouldn't- just to realize the modern day realities and separate them from the inu-yasha and highlander fantasies.

studying historical sword (any style) can be a rewarding and fun art, and IMO- is safer in sparring (because people actually have respect for wearing gear and no one I've ever come across is stupid enough to dispute if that zornhau they just got hit with would have cut deep into thier collarbone and into thier midsection- with the typical unarmed comment of "I didn't feel it so it has no power"- that usually gets attributed to wearing too much padding- or the person lieing).

just realize why as much for your own protection because in sword- even sport forms  like kendo, you will have to invest a significant amount of money in order to purchase equipment a short period after you begin.  although this depends on the teacher and the school and how quickly you progress.

in historical sword training you will spend significantly more purchasing protective gear when you are ready to start sparring even light contact and you will have to purchase even very minimal gear just so you can drill without injury.

I'm not trying to scare you away- just give you the reality and the financial investment you are looking at as an overview- if that scares you away, then better you know now than spending money purchasing equipment that will just end up gathering dust.
