I want to learn to play Rugby...?

I live in England and I haven't played since I was 12 (now 20), so I have forgotten everything but while watching a game the other day I remembered how great it is. Can I just join a rugby club eventhough I don't really know much about it anymore (I know some things, just haven't any practice) and I've got quite skinny now? Will they still train me how to play? Any advice would be really appreciated!

  1. Bottom line is there are clubs at all levels and most run training as an open event/nominal fee.

suggest you get a bit of confidence up by picking up a ball and throwing it around a bit.

best policy is to be honest regarding your level as you can get a bad injury even in training. Most backs tend to be light in frame but fast or stocky and shortburst specialists. If you are light then you will naturally drift into this position.

    best of luck

  2. YMCA clubs have everything. or you can form your own with firends.

  3. i have no idea what its like in England

  4. I've got no clue how it is across the pond, but I played in college and had no clue how to play, just knew that the schools rugby club was also known as the schools drinking club.  You should just call a local club and tell them you want to join.  I'm sure there are leagues over there you can join and they will just teach you how to play.  You can also go to a website like RugbyImports.com and buy some DVDs on how to play.  But the best way to learn how to play rugby, is just getting out there and playing.  You might get ruffed up a bit more but what's the point of playing if you're scared of that.
