  1. Maybe check out the following link and some of the other related articles, they might help with general background on rodeo and horses.

  2. First don't even think about owning one

Go to your local tack shop ,, ask questions about local trainers

Now just because they own a tack store DOES NOT MEAN THEY KNOW ABOUT TRAINING !!

now  Once you get a few names go out and watch them work with other riders

    and horses

    and go to other barns

    do the same

Look how the horses look and how well they are cared for and the students ask them stuff

Really any barn you go to ask questions

and WATCH EVERYTHING thats going on

    and prices

if you do not have lots for a private lessons they might have group lessons

Just beware of back yard trainers !

everything should be neat and Clean and also the horses should be well cared for and the barn should be clean etc  god luck

    Look under YARDANDGROOM.COM

    they have a great site

Before you even think about Rodeo

think maybe about learning how to show horses first

It will teach you so much more then

Run ,spur hit . and turn ,,

Show training will help you with everything you need in the begining

You might like that better then Rodeo's ..

  3. May the good force be with you has several good points.

    ~ Don't buy a horse.

~Taking some dressage lessons would be very benifical to you before you start barrel racing.

~ When it comes to doing the pattern speed can kill you. Asking for to much speed before you are ready will ruin the technicals of doing the pattern.

~go to some events and watch the riders. Look for one who works with their horse as a team ask them for trainer suggestions.

Not all "trash" racer's are no class, whips and spurs people.

try this site i looked it up quickly but you might want to try searching yourselve so you can find what you like try to find a barn with an indoor ring or one that goes with lessons all year long.

As for buying a horse wait till after you've taken a few years of lessons because you will be clueless on how to take care of the horse it is a lot more complicated than you would think!

    happy riding <3

  5. Go to your local tack store and ask about riding instructors in your area or check online for your area. After you find a good instructor and decide this is what you really want to do,take lots of lessons and then look for a horse.Once you are a good rider and meet other riders, the rodeo thing will come.Be patient and don't rush it. Good luck!!
