Question:

I want to learn to sing, is it too late?

I'm in my junior year of high school and I've just found an interest in singing. I have goals set for college and such but now I also want to try singing, to see how it goes. Is it too late? What type of clubs do most schools offer that would be good for me to join? I've heard people have to practice all their lives to become a good singer and start when they're very young. If I do well at this, what steps should I take to continue with it?

  1. High school is the perfect time to start. Singers who start too young often ruin their voices, and many voice teachers wont even take students until they are 14 or 15 or at least past puberty.

Join the school choir, audition for the musical(s), if your church has a choir join that. If you enjoy being a part of a singing group, start taking lessons. And if your teacher is good, they will help you look for competitions and other opportunities to sing, as well as good colleges that have good music programs and also fit in with whatever else your college goals may be.

And during all this time, be sure to practice! Don't slack off; you WILL regret it later. You may even want to take piano lessons, and learn some music theory. If you want to be serious about, you have to look for every opportunity to learn more about music in general, not just the singing part. It's definitely a lot of work, but also one of the best jobs out there!

    Hope this helps!!!
