Question:

I want to learn to speed cube?

I can do the Rubik's Cube in 1 or 2 minutes using the beginners layer method. I want to learn to speed cube but there's so many different techniques and I don't know which one is best for me.

Does anybody know/have experience with a method and could give me some information on it? I desperately want to get onto the next level of cubing but the websites I've been to either want you to be a beginner or an expert and I'm in the middle...

  2. Hi, I'm in the middle just like you, and I have progressed from the beginners method with an intermediate method. I suggest move onto the intuitive Fridrich F2L. What happens is you make pairs of  corner and edge pieces, and you insert them in the right spot. This allows you to solve the first two layers at once. After you learn that, learn the 2-look OLLs, and 2-look PLLs. This is the stage that I am at. After you learn F2L, and the 2-looks, you should go on and learn all 100 algorithms for the Fridrich method, which I do not know if I will ever get that far in cubing.

    LEARN FIRST:

    Intuitive F2L Part one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-xbcAMfW...

    Part two: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GxLM_dZq...

    LEARN SECOND:

    2-look OLL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTYvklyOp...

    2-look PLL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S61q3FYVF...

OLL = orientation of last layer. You use OLLs to make the top layer all the same color.

PLL = Premutation of last layer. You use these to get all the corner and edges in the right spot and thus solve the whole cube.
