Question:

I want to learn transcendental meditation. I want to have a teacher. I live in arkansas. Any suggestions?

I am reading the book about it, and it highly suggests a personal teacher. Is there a database of teachers, I can;t really find any on the web.

    You can only learn TM via a teacher, it is they who give you your 'sound/word' that you will use for the rest of your meditating life.

    It is an expense, which is one of the main problems with TM.

I would recommend Ananda Marga - they teach a form of Transcendental Meditation that i think is one of the most effective around, and they have teachers all over the world.  Most likely there is one near you.  They don't have a directory online, but they do have a list of contacts who'll tell you where the nearest centre, or teacher is:
