  1. I suggest not saying anything until you have a job offer.  If you let it be known that you are actively looking, they may decide your services aren't needed any more.  If you get a job offer, let the new company know you want to provide your present employer with a two week notice.  They will respect that since the new company would want you to treat them the same way.

  2. Don't tell your boss anything until you have the job offer in hand.  As a matter of fact, I wouldn't tell my boss until I had accepted the offer, and all the papers were signed.

The only times I have ever told my boss was when either they were looking to leave too, or we were good friends as well.

  3. don't say anything until you've been hired at  the other job.

not just verbally hired but signed and delivered.

give your 2 weeks notice and that is that.

you may be asked to leave, the moment you give your notice be ready for it.

  4. Be careful, and don't do anything you might regret. I took a 2 weeks vacation from my work thinking I only will be back to submit my resignation. I searched for another job during this time. Was called for two interviews and the only offer I could have was at a far lower salary than what I get from my current job, so I came back to my work after the vacation.

If I had told my boss that I was going to leave it would have been embarrassing to me to go back

  5. ok dont even tell ur boss until u get the other job, who knows u might not even get another, id wait if i were you, get the interview and tell them ur able to start in 2 weeks, becuz u have to give ur other job notice, if u dont give them notice they wont be good references on ur resume, so just wait it out, and when the time comes tell ur boss that ur handing in your 2 weeks notice

  6. This is the way most people do it. They have an interview and if you get a call back from the new employer for a second interview and they offer you the job you tell them you can start in two weeks, in order to give your current employer a two week notice. Most companies know this is coming if you currently have a job. And they respect the two week notice because they would want you to do the same for them.
