I want to live abroad because I want to be immersed in something new, a rich in culture. I've always felt like I am meant to live out of the U.S. for a while.

I've always loved everything Brazil. It is too beautiful. I have never been there and I don't know good cities to live in.

I am a health science major planning to be a dermatologist or work in public health (think CDC).

If you have any ideas let me know. I'd love to visit first...

  1. I have not been to Brazil since 1954 so things probably have changed somewhat.

The cities I would recommend to live in would be Sao Paulo, Brasilia, and I would think some parts of Rio DE Janero.

Brazil is a lovely country with Portuguese being the main language.  However, I am fluent in German and found that many Brazilians also speak that language.

When I was there a lot of Texas oil men and their families were living in and around Sao Paulo.

The cost of living there is modest with the temperatures being mild most of the year round.

You should enjoy yourself immensely.  Good luck and happy trip.

  2. Hi dear!

I'm a Brazilian girl and i can suggest you a very nice place to live. Belo Horizonte, is the capital of minas gerais state and it is the third largest city in Brazil(2.5 milion people). in despite of that, the people still preserves a provincial style of life and the coast to live is not so high. that city is famous about its night life and excellent quality of researchs in physical whitewashing to help victims of car crash.

around of the city there are many historical towns to see and ecological parks

    i guess you will enjoy.

contact me if you want come here.

  3. im brazilian. deff go there.. its beautiful and funn and evreyoen has fun there!

  4. Brazil is nice. Check out Rio. I have a friend who grew up there and tahts all he can talk about some days.

  5. frget about the civil war between police and drugdealers and its casualties, strays bullets, dengue epidemic, muggers all around, kidnappings and high level misery and poverty.

wake up and stop dreaming, read the news about brazil instead of misleading people with your "high" opinions

  6. Hi, I'm from Brazil, and if you're thinking about living there, everyone who visits Brazil or is foreign and lives there simply loves it.

Of course Brazil has its problems, but it has wonderful places and people. It's considered to be (also through experience I can say that) the country with the most hospitable people in the world.

I am from Sao Paulo state and know the city of Sao Paulo very well, still have relatives living there and lived there myself, it's a wonderful place with lots of things to do and opportunities.

Rio is more like a vacation place.

You just have to be careful with the violence in general, but if you live with a family like in an exchange program, you'll be ok.

If you have any other questions, just ask me. I'll answer if I know. I came to the US also as an exchange student, so I know a little bit about that too :)

  7. If you do want to go to Brazil, you must at least speak basic Portuguese, but I would advise to be fluent, otherwise it will be hard to really "live" in Brazil...

I'm here at the moment, and speak some basic portuguese, but my limited Portuguese makes it hard to really get to know people etc. It's fine to get around etc, but if you are planning to come here long term, seriously consider the language barrier...

  8. Wow, I'm sure you'd find easy work, but make sure to visit first.

I always tell people to come to Rio first.

There's no place quite like it in Brazil and I don't think the language would be such a barrier here.

    Good luck

  9. lol. i find it funny when people think Brasil is some exotic place, full of jungles, and beaches, etc. this is a stereotype. lemme see, have you heard of the Favelas (slums) that reside all over the country and south america ? have you heard about the Rocinha, the largest in the continent ? its in Rio, right beside the beach, where all the rich people live. did you know Brasil is a 3rd world country along with south america (again).more people died in the favelas than war zones in the middle east. what you see on tv, postcards, etc. are only tourist spots. do not wear Any jewerly or anything expensive because they Will steal it, whether its in your car, when youre walking down a street or if its noticable.

im just telling you the Truth, and warning you in advance before Anyone does anything dumb. you probably know, Futebol (soccer) is the "Worlds Sport" so you might wanna check out a futebol game while youre there. the Maracana, one of the worlds best stadium, are where futebol clubs like Flamengo, Botafogo, Fluminense play. i Highly reccomend you visit one of these. once you see a match and the fans, youre Hooked. trust me. and wear sandals, simple clothing, its not like the US, where you gotta wear high fashion clothing, be ignorant and quit, just have fun and look where youre going. peace !
