I want to live abroad for a couple of years, what are some tips for doing so?

i am thinking of moving internationally, i am really interested in japanese culture and would love to live a couple of years abroad.what are some things i need to know and some tips to help me achieve this goal?

I just got back from doing the same, I spent the semester living abroad in Spain, and it was the best experience of my life. I would definitely recommend spending a long time there! I spent 5 months and it just was not enough time. One of my recommendations is definitely travel as much as you can. It's such a great thing because it allows you to really experience and learn about other cultures! (plus, traveling in Europe and I would assume Asia too, is really cheap!) Another tip I have is to try everything and anything, especially if it's completely localized to where you are living. I lived in the Basque Country of Spain, and they have a totally unique way of life, including a very interesting palate. I was a picky eater before arriving, but I left with having tried some really unique things, that I ended up loving!

Even though it may seem scary and hard at first, trust me, you're making the right choice. If I could, I would go right back right now! So enjoy every minute you have!

the best tip i can give you is make sure you know someone that lives there. This is because its going to be very difficult to adjust to a whole new city and culture and having someone you know to show you around will make your stay a lot easier.

First of all, enquire information about the residency status whether it is easy to get; or you have to have direct family (mother/father/siblings) or working there to get one (as most country have this rule).

Second, enquire about the living cost. No country will allow u to come and becoming a beggar there ;) . Best of all if you can get a job.
