  1. I'm living in a small village in Tuscany,  in the country between Florence and Pise. It's a quiet place ,as well as all the small villages located in the centre or north of Italy. In this region, but also in the others close to here, the level of safety is extremely high compared to the regions of the south where the organized criminality is rather deep seated ; this is even more true if you can stay away from the big towns and you go to live wherever in the countryside. I don't know if that's possible for you and you're free to make a real choice, depending on yr job, but if yes I deeply recommend you to follow my advise

    I like Tuscany and I wouldn't change with any other Italian region;

    it's possible that's due to the fact I'm born here but I'm not alone in thinking that's the best region where to live. In fact really a lot of foreigners have bought or rented their homes here and I must say that mostly of them, without knowing my opinion, have choosen to live in some small village of Tuscany's country.

  2. Rome is the safest Capital City in Europe (0,4 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants).

    Other safe cities are Siena, Ferrara, Ravenna, Bologna, Modena, Lucca, Urbino, Orvieto.

  3. not cities Countryside places

  4. I'm italian and live in Milan, I have no problem at all. What I think is that Milan, like Rome, is a big city and can offer you everything, from theaters to restaurants, from museums to schools and jobs.... If you need other infromations I'm here

  5. All of Italy is relatively safe-as for the best place-it totally depends on who you are in terms of likes/dislikes. One person would choose one place, someone else another according to their personal taste and personality. There are those who hate Milano, but love Venezia. There are those that feel the opposite. Then there is the desire for North and South, which have very different feels to them-both wonderful, but in different ways, etc. Big city, small town, etc.

  6. I lived in Turin, right downtown (not even that far from the train station) and it was really safe.  I didn't have any problems and I always felt like my neighbours were watching out for me to make sure everything was okay.  I knew all the people in my building and the local business owners, and they knew me.  It was like small-town living in a big city.  Sure, if you live in the part of town that is full of immigrants who have recently come from developing nations you'll be in trouble, but in general I think you can safely live almost anywhere in Italy (with the country becoming more safe the further north you go).  To get an idea of the poverty in the south that leads to crime, rent the movie "Io non ho paura".
