My grandmother passed away August 2, 1996 in Missouri. How do I look up her obituary [sp?] - or newpaper clippings/death records without having to pay for it.

  1. try the link i'll post below this message i hope some of these help

  2. Contact the funeral home that handled her last wishes. They would have placed the obituary for your family and by law they have to keep a copy of everything they do so that they can be audited if there's a problem. I've had funeral homes give me obituaries all the way back to 1930. If they're a good funeral home, they'll just fax it to you.

If you live in the area, you can also go to the library and pull it up from film. That would cost less than a quarter for the copying charge.

Your other option is to contact a volunteer from the Missouri GenWeb site for that county. They'll charge you for the copying charge at the library (usually less than a quarter) and the cost of postage (less than a dollar). It's only fair that they don't pay out of pocket for doing a nice thing for you. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mogenw...
