    If you want to lose weight quick to make a weight requirement, your best option is probably a lot of running and sweating.  Reducing the amount of water in your body is the quickest way to make weight, as a long of athletes in sports with a weigh-in (boxing, MMA, sprint football, etc) do this.

    If you want to look good and a keep the weight off, a combination of good cardiovascular activity and weight-lifting (this is the key) is essential.  The cardio you do will keep the weight off, but cardio burns fat along with muscle.  Therefore, you will need to go some anaerobic activity to build up the muscle back up - resulting in a lower percentage of body fat with a greater percentage of muscle.

    For the second method, a goal of losing 2-3 pounds is generally accepted as being healthy.  Also, be sure to watch your calorie intake.  You can lose any weight if you're eating more calories than you're burning everyday
